Kilojoule/Calorie Counter


Calorie/Kilojoule Counter due to popular demand:


  • Due to popular demand for a very much simplified version of the Nutrient Calculator, which will allow an accurate calculation of kilojoule or calorie intake, I have decided to create simple kilojoule/calorie counter. When completed it will be available for FREE as a web based program, which will still have similar functionality to the Nutrient Calculator. That is, you will be able to enter different groups of foods and their weights into a window, and then the program will automatically calculate your kilojoule or calorie intake that day (or the number of days over which you record the food intake).

  • To create this program, and then to be able to offer it for free, is a reasonably large task, so please allow a few months to check back in and see if it is available.

  • In the meantime, as a bit of a Kilojoule/calorie intake guide, the following foods are listed with their corresponding kilojoule/calorie values per 100 grams of that food:

    • Red meat (eg. beef, lamb, veal): 264 Cal, 1106 Kj

    • Poultry: (eg. chicken, turkey, duck, goose): 253 Cal, 1058 Kj

    • Seafood - Fish: 163 Cal, 681 Kj

    • Seafod - Crustaceans & Mollusks: 141 Cal, 590 Kj

    • Pork: 273 Cal, 1142 Kj

    • Game Meat (eg. Kangaroo, Rabbit): 144 Cal, 603 Kj

    • Eggs: 170 Cal, 710 Kj

    • Butter: 717 Cal, 2999 Kj

    • Cheese: 304 Cal, 1270 Kj

    • Cream: 292 Cal, 1223 Kj

    • Milk: 56 Cal, 235 Kj

    • Yoghurt: 61 Cal, 257 Kj

    • Legumes, (eg. Beans, Peas, Soybeans): 111 Cal, 466 Kj

    • Bread: 257 Cal, 1074 Kj

    • Rice: 121 Cal, 507 Kj
